In the News: Columbus Gets a Second Baseball Team

Columbus gets a second baseball team

Local baseball fans can officially get twice as excited for baseball at Golden Park this year. Why, you ask? Because Columbus gets a second baseball team just in time for a season of double headers and twice the fun!

About the new Columbus baseball team

Columbus gets a second baseball team, and locals get to experience twice the amount of professional baseball in their own backyard! According to reports, the Chattahoochee Monsters will soon play ball alongside the Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots.

Formerly the Choccolocco Monsters of Oxford, Ala., the Monsters are now bringing more baseball to the River Region.

With two home teams to root for when the 2023 season kicks off in June, friends and families may have to decide who to cheer for. Will they hoot for the Chatt-a-Hoots? Or will they open their arms to the raging bulls now known as the Chattahoochee Monsters?

More about the Chattahoochee Monsters

Like the Chatt-a-Hoots, the Chattahoochee Monsters are owned and operated by Ignite Sports. Both minor league teams are also a part of the Sunbelt Baseball League.

The Chattahoochee Monsters’ first exhibition game will be on Monday, May 22nd, in Columbus.

Location

Even though Columbus gets a second baseball team, it won’t need a second stadium. Golden Park is now home to both the Chatt-a-Hoots and Chattahoochee Monsters.

Located on the Chattahoochee River in downtown Columbus, Golden Park seats about 5,000. The stadium’s physical address is 100 4th St., which is about three-and-a-half miles from Brookwood Park Apartment Homes.

That means you can be cheering on one or both of the home teams, back-to-back, after a five-minute drive!

Summary

Twice the number of home games. Twice the talent. Twice the special events. Do we need to tell you twice that Brookwood Park is convenient to Columbus, baseball, shopping, dining and more? We are! Keep reading our blogs for more local news and spotlights!
