A massive new mixed-use development is coming to North Columbus! Intended to create a place to live, work, and play, Midland Commons is bringing a variety of different businesses and retail spaces to the area.

About Midland Commons

Midland Commons will blend retail shops, businesses, and restaurants ranging from fast service to fine dining and more. This new destination will soon create many opportunities for both business owners and local residents.

“We’d like to bring downtown to out there in Midland, and you get a lot of people that are saying they don’t want to drive to downtown. They don’t want to compete with the college kids and the military,” said developer Chris Wightman in an interview with WTVM.

What we know

This development will span more than 88 acres and can be found on the corner of the eastern gateway to Columbus where U.S. Highway 80 and Georgia Highway 85 meet.

There will be a plethora of food options. Both Arby’s and Popeyes have already opened, and choices don’t plan to stop there. Some future food options will go up next to the new eight-acre Publix.

Wightman also announced that there will be a Great Clips, an AT&T store, a nail salon, Domino’s, and Jersey Mike’s Subs among the businesses developing in Midland Commons. He also hopes to bring bars to the area.

On the other side of the development, where an amphitheater will be located, you will be able to find more shops as well as lofts located just above those new spaces.

Summary

Residents and visitors will soon start seeing changes at 6801 Flat Rock Road in Columbus. With phase one of the development scheduled to be complete by mid-January or the beginning of February, locals will soon be able to see a liquor store, Synovus bank, urgent care, Jiffy Lube, Culvers, Dunkin, and more!
