It’s officially fall, and the good news is the weather isn’t the only cooler thing to come to Columbus. Jeremiah’s Italian Ice in Columbus is serving cool, refreshing frozen treats to guests from its first Georgia location.
A New Kind of Frozen Treat
While Italian Ice has enjoyed popularity in other places, it’s still a concept that has room to grow here. That’s why Jeremiah’s Italian Ice in Columbus is such a good fit in its new location in Banks Food Hall located at 1002 Bay Ave. Banks Food Hall is an indoor-outdoor dining center with 10 permanent vendors each offering a variety of food and beverage options. It’s the first of three Jeremiah’s Italian Ice shops scheduled to open in Columbus.
Jeremiah’s Italian Ice is well-known in its home state of Florida—not just for the delicious and flavorful dessert—but for the “culture of cool” it promotes wherever it goes. Jeremiah’s is upbeat and fun, from the logo to the colors (even the Italian Ice is bright!) to the lingo.
The Menu
Jeremiah’s Italian Ice in Columbus focuses on keeping it simple. There are three menu options—each full of flavor and creamy richness. The signature item is Jeremiah’s Gelati, layers of Italian Ice and soft ice cream. Then there’s Italian Ice and Soft Ice Cream, both made from recipes honed by founder and owner Jeremy Litwack.
With more than 40 flavors of Italian Ice to choose from, there are a plethora of combinations to tempt those tastebuds and keep you coming back for more. The wide range of flavors even includes ones that are perfect for the holiday season such as Pumpkin Pie, Sea Salted Caramel and Gingerbread.
Culture of Cool
According the website, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice is a concept created by Litwack while he was still in high school selling Italian Ice up north where he is originally from. The idea materialized further when he was a college student studying marketing at the University of Delaware. In the early 90s, he rented a warehouse space where he “perfected his technique for combining fresh fruit, fruit puree, filtered water and sugar into a cool, refreshing treat.”
With a desire to introduce the Southeast to a previously unknown frozen delight, Jeremy settled on Winter Park, Fla., to begin his venture in 1996. Fast forward 20 years, and it is now one of the fastest-growing frozen dessert franchise concepts on the market. With a motto like “Live Life to the Coolest,” it’s easy to see why.
