If parks are your natural play place, you’re in good company. Phenix City boasts a plethora of parks and other outdoor venues for restful, riveting, and riverside recreation. Here’s a quick look at some Phenix City parks, what they offer, and other info you may find helpful!

Austin Sumbry Park

With pavilions, picnic areas, a pond, and a fenced-in playground, this park has something for everyone. Enjoy an outdoor luncheon with friends or even an afternoon fishing excursion. Though, if you do plan to fish, a valid fishing license is required.

Austin Sumbry Park is open from dawn until dusk, and is located at 3970 Uchee Hill Highway, which allows you to get away from the hustle-and-bustle of the urban sprawl.

Idle Hour Park 

One of the most aptly-named Phenix City parks, Idle Hour Park caters to nature lovers, fitness enthusiasts, and even the kids! This park features jogging trails, a nature trail, a beautiful playground, and a Children’s Learning Trail. Need to beat the heat? The Splash Pad also calls this park home!

Idle Hour Park is open daily from dawn till dusk—and the Splash Pad’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, weather permitting. This park rests at 900 Airport Road.

Lakewood Park

Lakeside, please! Boasting a serene lake, fenced-in playgrounds, a picturesque walking trail, and ball fields this park is sure to please. Like Austin Sumbry, fishing on Lakewood Park’s lake also requires a valid fishing license. Ball fields need to be reserved before use.

Nestled right beside Lakewood Golf Course, Lakewood Park is located at the intersection of Bridgewater Drive and Park Drive in Phenix City—and is open from dawn until dusk.

Meadowlane Park  

Get your picnic baskets handy for a wonderful afternoon at lovely Meadowlane Park. Entertainment ranges from a charming playground to a tranquil jogging path—with plenty to enjoy in between.

Open from dawn until dusk, Meadowlane Park rests at the corner of 5th St. South and 7th Ave. South, almost due south of downtown Phenix City.

Southside Park

See the sunny side of life at Southside Park! Boasting a splash pad, swimming pool, playground, and tennis courts, this park can shapeshift to meet all your outdoor needs.

Southside Park is open daily from dawn until dusk, and resides at 2625 Sandfort Road, which puts you right in a peaceful section southwest of Phenix City.

Sugar Town Park

At Sugar Town Park, you can take your favorite furry friend for a walk or relax on one of the many benches scattered throughout the grounds. Just remember to keep your four-legged friends on a leash!

Sugar Town Park rests on the northeast corner at the intersection of South Seale Road and First Street.

Phenix City Riverwalk

The prize of Phenix City, the Phenix City Riverwalk is a staple of the Phenix City parks—and the city in general. Riding along the western bank of the beautiful Chattahoochee River, the Riverwalk is perfect for bike riding, sightseeing, or just a long, relaxing stroll!
